Slow cooked to perfection, smoked Polish sausage with sauerkraut and potatoes in a brown sugar-laced sauce that’s just superb! My family always request that I prepare this because of the fantastic sweet and savoury tastes. It is easy to oblige their request because of how easy it is to prepare.
This simple crock pot meal is one of our favourites! Potatoes and sauerkraut simply seem to go together. With the addition of some Polish sausage, you have a whole supper in a pot! This is genuine comfort food, and my family thrives on it. This is one of our favourite crock pot recipes, and it’s a keeper. This dish may be divided in half or doubled for a larger gathering. If you have any leftovers, you can refrigerate over the night and still enjoy the deliciousness of this recipe. .

2 14 ounce cans sauerkraut, undrained
5 or 6 potatoes peeled and cut into large chunks
1 cup water
1 pound Polish sausage cut into chunks
1 teaspoon caraway seeds
1 bay leaf
¼ teaspoon pepper
Place sauerkraut and potatoes in crock pot, add spices and water, place sausage on top and allow to cook for 6 hours on low or until the potatoes are done.
Serve and enjoy!

There are so many fantastic smoked sausage selections. Although Polish sausage is great, you can also try smoked chicken sausages. Just ensure you choose a sausage that is devoid of nitrates/nitrites and is more natural.
Pork chops can also be used in this dish. Combine all of the ingredients except the potatoes and chops in a mixing bowl, then layer in the potatoes and chops once the sauerkraut mixture is ready
Cooking times for slow cookers vary. Keep an eye on the pot and leave some wiggle room in your plans. You may always set the crock pot to warm and wait a few minutes for supper to finish.
Because the sauerkraut and sausage are salty, no salt should be added to the slow cooker.
