Sweet potato pie is a simple recipe that’ll give you no stress and will be ready to serve within an hour. Whether you want to enjoy a treat at home or are preparing for a large ceremony, sweet potato pie will be just right for you

Yield: one 9-inch pie

Servings size: 9 servings

Ingredients

½ cups of canned sweet potatoes, alternatively use 2-3 roasted, peeled or pureed sweet potatoes
¾ cup of sugar
2 big eggs

¼ cup of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
4 tablespoons of softened butter
¼ teaspoon of ground nutmeg

¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt to taste
1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell, homemade or bought.

The process

Step 1:

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2:

Mix the sweet potatoes, a half cup of the sugar, eggs, butter, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt with an electric mixer. Leave it to mix until it is blended, smooth and without lumps.

Step 3:

Pour the blended mixture into the pie shell and sprinkle with the remaining one quarter of the sugar on it. Leave the pie to stay like that for 15 minutes before baking in order to allow the sprinkled sugar to melt well.

Step 4:

Place in the oven to bake until it is done. You can check it after an hour. Leave it to cool before serving and enjoy the taste.

Tips:

For you to know whether it is properly done inside of the pie, insert a toothpick in the centre, when it comes out clean, then you can remove it from the oven.
